The days of offering a pool and a free coffee to set you apart as a multi-family community are over. Now developers are including state-of-the-art gyms, dog parks, dog washes, and rooftop lounges. However, all of those play second fiddle to Table Tap’s self-pour amenity for beer, wine, cold-brew coffee, and more. An enhanced resident experience and the ability to differentiate that experience have become extremely important to developers (like Revel), ownership, and property management.
To gain more insight into how our customers are using their system as an amenity, the Table Tap team headed over to one of our local apartment installs: Revel at the Ballpark. The Revel property management team was nice enough to sit down with us and have a great conversation. Check out the highlights of that conversation below:
TT: Tell us a little bit about your property
Revel Team: Revel at the Ballpark is a 275-unit apartment complex in the heart of the Battery right outside the Atlanta Braves stadium. It’s an amazing spot for young professionals. Our Table Tap system is in our resident lounge right next to the pool! To use the system, residents must scan an RFID card at the taps, and then the system keeps track of how much they pour by the ounce.
TT: How long ago was the Table Tap system installed?
Revel Team: It was installed right before we opened, and we actually just had our 3rd birthday last month… So about 3 years!
TT: What kinds of beverages do you have on tap? Which do the best?
Revel Team: We have a total of four taps and are currently offering a mix of beers and seltzer. Right now, on tap, we have Truly, Modelo, Coors Light, and Sweetwater 420. With Sweetwater being huge in Atlanta and local, our residents have always drunk a lot of Sweetwater. Now that it’s getting pretty hot out and more people are hanging out by the pool, it seems like Truly is the most popular.
We are in the process of starting an interactive campaign across our social media. We are trying to find out from our residents which beverages they like the best and which ones they would like to see on tap. It’s important that we are giving them what they want and the best experience possible!
TT: Where do you get your kegs from?
Revel Team: We get them right down the road from the local liquor store… super easy!
TT: Who on the property helps maintain the system?
Revel Team: Our maintenance staff is responsible for switching out and replenishing the kegs. We also have a housekeeper who does a great job cleaning the beer lines about once a week.
TT: Is the system available 24/7 to residents or is it limited?
Revel Team: We make the taps available 7 days a week, but only from 11 am – 11 pm each day, so residents’ RFID cards will not work outside of those hours.
TT: How many ounces a day does each resident get?
Revel Team: 24 ounces… Really the only complaint we have gotten from residents is that they wish they could get more each day.
TT: What’s your registration process for issuing RFID cards to residents?
Revel Team: When a resident moves in, they get a card. Of course, we check their ID to make sure they are 21 years old first. They also must sign a 2-page addendum basically agreeing that they will use the system responsibly. In that addendum, they also agree to pay a $100 penalty if they lose their RFID card.
TT: What kind of feedback have you gotten from residents on this amenity?
Revel Team: They love it! They want more! *Points over to the system* This thing right here closes deals by itself. It catches people’s attention on tours. Sometimes after showing the system to someone and explaining how it works, we’ve had people say, “I’ll sign a lease right now”.
From there we let the Revel Team return to planning out their upcoming annual, resident pool party. Table Tap is proud to be one of their sponsors for the event and thrilled that our system will be able to quench residents’ thirst throughout the party.
