Fast Casual Self Pour with Table Tap!
Last week, Table Tap completed a self pour install at yet another Savi Provisions, this time in Charlotte, North Carolina. Savi Provisions is an upscale craft market and liquor store with locations across the country. At select locations, they offer delicious order-at-the-counter food and on-premise alcohol sales. These locations lean on Table Tap to increase on-premise sales revenue through self pour. We love growing with our partners as they expand into new cities.
In working on several projects with Savi, we’ve learned that fast casual operators must be savvy in how they differentiate themselves from their competition. They need to provide a unique customer experience and create a lasting impression that will keep people coming back.
Traditionally, fast casual restaurants do not sell a lot of alcohol, but they want to. When people drink more they stay longer and when they stay longer they spend more money. So how can operators increase their beer sales? Through a self pour system, they can expect their beer sales to double at the very least. They can do this without having to add any additional staff members. Most fast casual places already have a lean staff and these employees aren’t bartenders by trade.
They also don’t have time to pour drinks during busy rush hours. Their focus should be on taking and producing food orders. Table Tap empowers customers to pour their own draft beverages, taking a lot of stress off the staff’s shoulders.
Fast casual restaurants are usually not the most social environments. People may order their food to go or sit down real quick to eat and then leave, but again, when people can drink they will hang around. A self pour system brings socialization within a venue to a whole different level. The beauty of self pour is that customers can sample different beverages by the ounce to find out which ones they like best. Customers gravitate towards the tap wall. They chat with one another about the technology and about what’s on tap. Self pour is fun for customers and it immediately enhances the experience you provide.

The more touch points between the customer and staff, the slower the speed of service. Self pour minimizes touch points. At the order counter, A customer can pay for their food, show their ID, and pick up an RFID card all at the same time. From this point on, the customer can refill their beer at their leisure just as they would at a soda fountain. An operator loves to see a line out the door, but a customer does not. The last thing they want to do is wait in a long line just to buy a second beer. With a self pour system available, they can bypass the line and pour another beverage on demand.
Tip: Self pour systems aren’t just for beer! Many fast casual restaurants want to offer draft beer and other types of draft beverages such as wine, cocktails, cold brew coffee, teas, and kombucha. If it comes in a keg, a Table Tap system can more than likely dispense it. In addition to self pour draft beer, Savi Provision locations also offer self pour bottled wine and liquor through our integration with Enomatic Wine Dispensers . With a single RFID card, customers can seamlessly scan and pay for pours off both systems.
Almost all fast casual restaurants these days are implementing some sort of rewards program. A unique feature of a Table Tap system is our member card program . These are RFID cards that customers can keep with them and bring back. Members may receive exclusive discounts on their pours off the tap wall. If they earn a certain number of rewards points, that may earn them an enrollment into a tiered membership level (i.e. bronze, silver, gold, etc.). The higher membership level, the larger discount they get on their pours. Single-use prepaid cards are also great rewards to offer. If a customer gains a certain number of rewards points, they may earn a $5, $10, or $15 prepaid RFID card.

We have seen that the sweet spot in terms of number of taps for a fast casual restaurant is 8-16. If it’s early enough in the buildout of the space, then a wall system can really add to the aesthetic and vibe of the venue. Our systems all come with iPad HD retina display screens which will really make the tap wall pop and stand out from a distance. We recommend having the tap wall visible from the street. You want people to see the self pour system as they walk by so that they know your venue is going above and beyond the ordinary.
If you’re a restaurant that is already open and looking to install a self pour system, then a tap wall with a walk-in cooler may not be feasible but that’s okay! Table Tap also offers direct draw dispensers capable of dispensing up to 12 different products out of one unit. To install these units, little to no additional construction is required. The size of the unit is determined by the number of taps. All we need is data, power, and a place to put it!
If you’re a fast casual operator looking to increase alcohol sales and make your venue stand out, give our team a shout (link to free quote form). Each of our systems is custom designed. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll help bring your self-pour vision to life!
